Monthly Archive for April, 2012
The next few weeks for Y11 students are probably the most important in their school career. The GCSE results achieved in the summer really can be life-changing and so it is vital that together we maintain their momentum and effort until the very last exam. The following outlines the arrangements for the next few weeks for Y11 students.
Monday 14th May
Y11 students will mark the end of normal lessons with a celebration breakfast provided for them in our dining area. Following this, students will leave site before break to commence their formal period of revision and study. All students are expected to attend College, in uniform, on Tuesday 15th May to commence their study-school programmes.
Study Schools before Half Term
All students will be provided with a new, full-time timetable that will that will enable more subject specific study in the lead up to exams. This will adjust weekly as exams are taken but student attendance in uniform is mandatory and expected in this period.
Study Schools after Half Term
Study Schools will continue after half term and students will be required to attend relevant sessions. However, when there are no timetabled sessions there is no requirement for students to be in College. As time goes on and exams are completed the requirement to attend will diminish until all are complete. Again, students will be provided with a study-school timetable in advance of the programme.
Students with specific needs or requirements may be offered a more personalised programme with varying amounts of time spent in College.
If you have any questions or queries over this process please contact Mr S Fenna, Assistant Head, who is overseeing the process.
Finally, can I thank you in advance for supporting your child through this time by ensuring they are revising in suitable conditions at home.
