Home Learning Launch

Dear Parent/Carer,

In response to parental requests we have reviewed and redesigned the college approach to Homework.

Homework will now be referred to as Home Learning. In September through the college website you will be able to access a full overview of each Faculties scheme of learning for Key Stage 3, and the Home Learning tasks linked to the work that your son/daughter will be studying.

Each faculty will also indicate how you can support your son/daughters learning through activities or relevant websites/resources.

There will also be a calendar of which Home Learning tasks should be completed in each week. This means that you will be able to support your son/daughter with these tasks and always know what it is they should be working on.

If you do not have access to the internet you can request paper copies of the information that will be on the website.

In Key Stage 4 all students will be studying examination subjects, Home Learning will therefore be set according to the needs of individual subjects.

With the support of the parents Homelink Group the college is hoping to set up a Home Learning after college club where students and parents, should you want to, will be able to get help and support with Home Learning tasks, more information on this will follow in September.

On the back of this letter and also on the college website you will find the college policy on Home Learning, this outlines the college, parents and students roles very clearly.

If you have any questions about the Home Learning policy please do not hesitate to contact me at college or email me at shsmith@westfield-admin.co.uk

Yours sincerely
