LETTER FROM THE HEADTEACHER

Dear Parents/Carers

We are approaching the end of another academic year and I am writing to thank you for your partnership with the College since my start in September.

It has been a very busy year for students and staff and we have changed much about how we work. In the last nine months the staff structure has been reorganised so there is a clear leadership of curriculum subjects and teaching. We have also re-focused the curriculum to ensure students leave Westfield better qualified and experienced for their next steps in life. We hope that 2012 will prove to be a very successful year and that will be achieved by everyone working better, together.

A strong partnership between College and home is a key factor in ensuring that students progress well and are successful. At the start of the year all parents/carers and students were invited to complete a questionnaire about College. The findings of this survey helped shape our actions over the year. More changes are yet to come but everything will be done to improve learning and make our students even more successful. We will send out questionnaires again in the autumn term or if you want to have regular input into College life please join our Home-Link group. Details are on the website.

Finally a quick reminder that the College closes to all students at 12.30pm, Thursday 19th July 2012 and reopens Wednesday 5th September 2012 at the normal time.

Further information about Parents Evenings will follow early in the autumn term.

Have a great summer break and I look forward to working with you in the next academic year.

Yours sincerely

Mr A Ireland
