The Sports College has dedicated accommodation for special educational needs and also includes an Integrated Resource Unit for students with moderate learning difficulties. The sports facilities are second to none, and this is reflected in the high quality of provision for sport, both indoor and outdoor, which includes a 25 m swimming pool, large sports hall, fitness suite, activity centre, all weather floodlit pitches and hard games courts. These are being fully utilised by the local community as well as the college. |

The College also has a residential centre, Greta Cottage at Cliburn in the Lake District, that is used extensively by groups from the College for both curriculum extension work and for adventurous outdoor activity.Westfield is concerned with the education of the whole person and while conventional academic progress is not neglected it will not be regarded as the only feature needed to prepare young people for the adult world.

The Personal and Social Education and Citizenship programmes for example, help young people to understand themselves better as individuals and to consider their relationships with the society in which they live. The wide range of extra curricular activities gives opportunities for personal development, through involvement in sports and creative activities, such as drama and dance.
Students are also given the opportunity to influence decision making in the college through the School Council. Each tutor group elects representatives onto the council who meet regularly to raise concerns, ideas, and to make suggestions. The elected Committee also represent the student body to the Governors.
